Find a computer with a particular CD-ROM in its drive
We have all done this before, you take a cd out into the office to install a software program on several pc’s and accidentally left the CD-ROM in the drive. The trouble is you cannot remember exactly which computer that you left the CD-ROM in. Luckily you have SCCM. Now you need to write a query to find the media. Below is the process that will help you find your media.
Run through the new query wizard. Make sure to keep the object type as a system resource. Choose the “collection limiting” settings you need.
Click on edit query statement
The criterion type is a simple value. The “Where” is where you want to focus your query to focus. In this case you will need to choose “CDROM Drive = Volume Name”. The operator should be is equal to. Lastly you will need to know the value of the media name.
Click on show query language
Here is what your query statement looks.
Now you can run your query and you should see your results return with where you left the CD-ROM.
