VAppRegHandler.dll failed to register while installing the SCCM SP2 client

I encountered an error while installing the SCCM SP2 client on a Windows XP computer where the install failed halfway through with the following message. Fortunately this only happened on a small handful of machines.

MSI: Module C:\Windows\system32\CCM\VAppRegHandler.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel.

Here is the resolution:

From the run window run the following command:

Click OK.

You should see the following message

Kick off the client install again and you should have a successful installation.
